Getting To The Osa Peninsula

Lapa Rios is located on the beautiful Osa Peninsula of southern Costa Rica. The lodge is tucked away within 1,000 acres of rainforest reserve, overlooking the point at which the Pacific Ocean meets the Golfo Dulce.

Reaching our remote location is surprisingly easy. There are 3 ways to get to Lapa Rios: Fly, Drive, or take our Private Transporstation Service. See below for details on each.

Flight: 50 mins + Airstrip Pick-up: 45 mins = 1 hour 35 mins Total Travel Time

The easiest & fastest way to reach Lapa Rios. 

Fly from our capital city, San Jose, to the Puerto Jimenez airstrip (50 min). Sansa Airlines offer daily flights from San Jose. Once in Puerto Jimenez, it’s a 45 min. drive to Lapa Rios.

We will gladly assist you with airline tickets for domestic flights – just ask us! Roundtrip ground transfers between Puerto Jimenez and Lapa Rios are complimentary.

If you’re planning to rent a car in Costa Rica, let us know and we’ll provide you with detailed driving instructions on how to reach Lapa Rios. Roads are well-maintained and safe throughout the country.

Sit back and enjoy a taste of our country’s culture and beautiful landscapes. For an additional fee, we’ll drive you here!

As an alternative to flying from SJO, we can pick you up at the airport in a private transportation and drive you directly to Lapa Rios. You’ll travel in an air conditioned vehicle with a bilingual driver who’ll be happy to make stops along the way for bathroom breaks and photo opportunities. Roads are safe and well-maintained.
