Whale Watching

OSA PENINSULA

Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula is home to the longest humpback whale season in the world. These magnificent creatures spend up to eight months in the nutrient-rich waters of the gulf to breed and raise their young. Tours from Lapa Rios include roundtrip transportation to Puerto Jimenez, followed by 2.5 hours of spectacular scenery and marine life. Up to three species of dolphin, manta rays, and sea turtles make regular appearances, in addition to the humpbacks and their babies. The peak of whale watching season runs from July through early October when sightings are practically guaranteed.
