IN PIRU
Explore the vast Hacienda Rio Oro on horseback like one of the locals before kayaking its pristine Laguna Pejeperro Lagoon. Hacienda Rio Oro is comprised of secondary forests and countryside. Several trails and scenic country roads wind through the ranch to be explored on horseback (a traditional Cabalgata trail ride) or on foot. A Lapa Rios guide and Hacienda wrangler will accompany the ride and share stories about the local culture and customs. Kayaking Laguna Pejeperro is a peaceful and eye-opening experience as the lagoon is the nesting site of over 40 species of aquatic birds and is home to abundant wildlife, including crocodiles, reptiles, and monkeys.
